Between Scylla and Charybdis…

Here we are: the map’s design is close to be finished in its basic version, with a cool bunch of coasts, roads and cities. In order to prove it, we’re going to unveil soon a little snapshot – showing the growth of a town to a huge city. And you know how gamer we are in Factoriae – it is nearly our moto. As a result, we’ve decided to share our spurs-of-the-moment. This is also a good way for everybody to update his average cultural level. Only one rule: one proposition per person…more or less.

If we wanted, we could talk about the amazing Industry Giant II, but obviously, it will be (too) easy because Factoriae is well inspired from the Jowood’s game. Thus, we’re starting with a little house-made edit. The French band “Peuple de l’Herbe” used to sing: “This is the expression of our time”. According to the team, nothing is more « the expression of a time » than the newspaper. “The design is the testimony of a culture or an epoch. The 30s fashion magazine for instance, but also any sort of newspaper, is like a journey trough time”, Chris’ quietly explained between two Photoshop’s layers. And god, she is right!

Next step: try to give life to the game’s web pages, that is to say, imagine and design each element of the game and integrate it. Not really easy, but we’ll take the time to analyze each cultural tendency that made famous the XX century. That’s a promise! Well, the artistic direction likes a lot the 20/30s. However, we refuse to reduce our simulation to one period. Conclusion, we have to be creative and open-minded. Concerning innovation, we like to introduce this iconic track from the beginning of the XX century: Raphsody in Blues. Thank you Mr. Gershwin. One more time, the dream comes true

Concerning our webpage, the next step will require a true concentration and a great effort. The good news? We’ll have more news soon…Remember. We used to be very inspired by the Steampunk genre – an interesting way to synthesize your emphasis for the “Steam & pistons”

In addition, we’re actually in love with the sub-aquatic universe of the very oppressing 2K Studio’s Bioshock. The point is that Nad’ has a huge fascination for damp or dark corners. We also like to re-introduce you to the incredible Jules Verne’s universe. « There is also Jean Pierre Jeunet », Nad’ highlighted. You know the guy who made “Le fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain”. But anyway, time is running out, we’ve to move further. In June, we’ll begin to design our web pages, including the definition of a new graphical charter – once for all. No doubt it would be a daunting task, but we’ve no choice (if you see what i mean^^). And to make a good conclusion, I’ve to tell you the very-good-english-beatmaker Gold Panda has recently released a new EP and it’s a true jewel.
